This is the second playground that has been constructed over the last three years with funding for this construction coming from major sponsors including a Federal Government grant through Meryl Swanson MP, Nelson Bay Rotary, Anna Bay Fishing Club, Soldiers Point Bowling Club, Soldiers Point Lions Club, Salamander Bay Recycling Centre, The Action Club and Mayor Bruce MacKenzie on behalf of Port Stephens Council.

The remaining funds were raised through a fete and variety of fundraising ventures on behalf of the P&C and donations from our supportive community.

Renee Thompson, P&C member told News Of The Area, “We would like to thank not only our major sponsors, but also all of the businesses who donated to help us raise money, and all of the people who helped out at our fundraising events.”

Mr Freeman, Principal of Anna Bay Public School said, “Living and working so close to the beach is amazing, but the salt air takes its toll on the structures.”

“Further consideration was placed on the aesthetics, we wanted the playground to blend in with the environment rather than being a maze of plastic, therefore, we decided on the entire structure being made from naturally termite resistant timber and marine grade stainless steel.”

The kids love the new playground, are improving their physical and mental strength daily.

Mr Freeman said, “I speak on behalf of everyone here at school, we are so grateful for the hard work and determination of our P&C and the incredible support we receive from the community.”
