This is the second and final year the Regional Seniors Travel Card program will be available to the public.

The program provides eligible seniors in regional, rural and remote areas with a $250 prepaid card to help ease the cost of travel.

Seniors can use the travel card at certain retailers across Australia to pay for fuel, taxis and pre-booked NSW Trainlink regional trains and coaches.

The travel card is valid for fourteen months from the date of issue.

The Regional Seniors Travel Card program commenced in 2020 for a two-year trial period, and will end this year.

To be eligible for the trial applicants must have reached the Age Pension age of 66 years, live in a designated regional area of NSW outside of Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong, and be receiving support from either Services Australia or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

This support includes receiving the Services Australia Age Pension or being a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card holder, or receiving a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Age Pension, Service Pension, Disability Pension, or War Widow(er) Pension.

Applicants must also have received their pension or have held their health care card for at least one month.

Eligible NSW Local Government Areas for the Regional Seniors Travel Card include Bellingen Shire Council and Coffs Harbour City Council.

Applications for the card can be made online at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-regional-seniors-travel-card.
