Art celebrates creatures in members’ exhibition

My Dogs by Sue Roberts.

WASPS, whales, pet dogs and a rollicking rooster, the animals and insects are back at the Coffs Harbour Showground Gallery, in the Coffs Harbour Creative Arts Group (CHCAG) members’ exhibition, ‘All Creatures Great & Small’.

This annual favourite is a very popular exhibition for the group’s members, gallery visitors, and animal- and art-lovers alike, featuring artworks across the CHCAG’s many disciplines: acrylics, watercolours, pastels, printmaking, calligraphy, porcelain, and more.

This is the group’s only judged exhibition and this year has attracted more sponsors than ever before.

Onboard this year are: C.ex Club Grants, Ticli Law Pty Ltd, Pacific Vetcare, Chemist Warehouse, Amcal Chemist, Piccolo To Go, Jetty Harbour House, Big Banana Fun Park, Book Warehouse, and Pet Stock, providing attractive and high prize stakes.

“A very big thank-you to all those who sponsored this exhibition; it’s great to be able to reward and recognise artists for their work,” CHCAG President, Sue Roberts told News Of The Area.

“We’re always pleased to see not only the number of entries submitted but the artists’ imaginations, skills, and techniques on display too.

“The artworks spark many conversations about where inspiration has come from, how the artwork evolved, and how much joy artistic endeavours kindle,” she said.

The official opening and awards ceremony is on Sunday, 28 August at 2pm.

Entry is by donation; there will be light refreshments provided and a raffle hamper.

There is also a People’s Choice award, announced at the end of the exhibition.

“So please do call into the Gallery, see what’s on display, and remember to vote for your favourite artwork; winning a People’s Choice is a wonderful validation of the appeal of an artist’s work,” said Sue.

The exhibition is on display until Wednesday, 26 October.

The Gallery is open Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 2pm, with free entry.

All artworks are for sale … your chance to grab yourself an original, unique, and truly local piece of art.
