The visit was planned after the author posted on her Facebook fan page asking where her readers lived.

Tea Gardens local, Stephanie Perrott, wrote “fictitiously” that she lived in Tea Gardens but she supposed the Melbourne-based writer probably wouldn’t be coming this way.

“She wrote back that she would like to visit and that’s how this all came about,” Stephanie said.

Helen’s first book, Cleo, was warmly received around the world with 2 million copies sold and the book translated into 16 languages.

Cleo is now poised to become a movie made by South Pacific Pictures.

The true story, based on Helen’s life, follows the way her family struggling with terrible grief, began a healing process through the antics of their cat Cleo and her ability to make them laugh and love again.

The book’s sequel, After Cleo Came Jonah was also embraced by critics and readers.

Her first novel Tumbledown Manor, has just been released in Germany and will hit US shelves in May.

Helen has a large fan following with a history working as a columnist, TV presenter and script writer.

She will be speaking about her life and the process of writing her books at Tea Gardens Library from 7pm on Wednesday, 4 March. Tickets are $10 and all money raised through ticket sales will go directly towards supporting the library.

Those interested in coming along can pre order tickets by phoning Stephanie on 0466 672 102.
