Bat Flats Art Competition with a $10,000 prize pool Tea Gardens, Hawks Nest by NOTA - July 1, 2015 Have you entered the Bat Flats Art Competition yet, with its $10,000 prize pool up for grabs? The Storm of the Century has kept many people too busy, so to give you extra time to enter we’re extending the last date for submission to 31 August. You may have purchased a bat flat from the Tea Gardens Mens Shed, so consider how you could ‘trick it up’ a bit – paint it or decorate it – and enter it into the competition! Or, you can make your own bat flat following the guide available by typing www.batflats.com.au into your browser. Our local, tiny micro bats need all the homes they can get, so they can sleep safely during the day and get out to eat their bodyweight of mosquitoes and sandflies during the night. Less mozzies and sandflies is a high priority in our area! Bat flats can be made from all sorts of materials, so this is a call-out to ceramic sculptors, mosaic artists, woodworkers, acrylic and oil painters, and those from other artistic disciplines to enter!
