The occasion was the First National Real Estate Hawks Nest Open Men’s Two Bowl Triple Event.

“We had 84 bowlers from as far away as Kempsey, Port Macquarie, down to Sydney and out to Gulgong,” Club Manager Warren Gooley told News Of The Area.

“This is the third year and it’s a capacity event every year.”

Apart from being a little windy on Saturday morning, it was picture perfect weather for the rest of the weekend.
With three players to a team, there were 18 teams on the greens.

A big incentive to join in the competition at the Tea Gardens Club was the prize money of $5,000.

Since its inception, the event has been sponsored by First National Real Estate at Hawks Nest.

“It’s a great way to become involved in a community event,” First National’s John Rumble said.

A Calcutta was also run in conjunction with the Bowls weekend, the pot at the end of Friday night was well over $3,000 being split between three lucky winners.

At the end of the weekend the team from Aberdeen took out the title in the Two Bowl Triple Event.
