It was a choir that began about 25 years ago as an ecumenical choir and was run by Sister Lesley.

It is now a community choir performing under the name “Convergence”.

The name is related to the two rivers coming together at Bulahdelah and it also represents the people from all walks of life who are members of the choir.

The choir has annual gigs at the ANZAC Day ceremonies, at Easter time events, at the Bulahdelah Show Student Nights and the Town Carols during the Christmas period.

The Great Lakes Nursing Home also have the pleasure of having the choir regularly perform to the residents.

Recently, the choir performed at a Christmas In July event which was held at the Bulahdelah School of Arts.

Thora-Lou Smith is the Director of the choir.

“The Nativity Play will be performed on 19 & 20 December at 5.00pm at the Bulahdelah School of Arts.”

“New members are welcome to join our choir especially with the rehearsing and performing of the Nativity Play,” said Thora-Lou Smith.

Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 7-8pm at the Bulahdelah Uniting Church on the corner of Crawford and Blanch Street.

Gemma Stace, a member of the Bulahdelah Choir for over 10 years, spoke with Myall Coast News about her joy of participating in the rehearsals and performances.

“The choir is a welcoming and supportive group.”

“We have fun learning and performing new songs.”
