Bulahdelah locals take on the World’s Greatest Shave despite flood

Ash Ray, of Bulahdelah, nervously awaits his haircut.

DESPITE the floods and constant rainfall during the last week, a bright Ray of sunshine has shone through.

On Saturday 20 March, Bulahdelah residents Aleesha Ray and her husband Ash, along with his colleague Trevor McLeod, shaved their heads for the World’s Greatest Shave, to raise money for The Leukaemia Foundation.

The wet weather necessitated a change of venue, with the event taking place in the carport of Bulahdelah Police Station.

Unfortunately, the Bulahdelah branch of the Country Women’s Association could not make it to the event due to flooding.

“I told the CWA ladies not to worry about putting themselves at risk or making too much effort to come out due to the weather,” Mrs Ray said.

Donors were still keen to chip in for a good cause, and the trio raised a grand total of $5082.87, well above their initial goal of $4000.
