Players volleyed at the nets in all things pink with plenty of laughs heard around the courts.

Raffles, competitions and a pink morning tea were also added to the day of fun for the serious cause.

“Breast cancer affects too many people,” event organiser Meredith Rae told News Of The Area.

“It is in everybody’s lives, either directly or through friends or family.”

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) said one in eight women in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and eight women will lose their battle to the disease each day.

October was Breast Cancer Awareness month highlighting that early detection provides the best chance of survival.

Almost 90 percent of women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer are now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis.

By funding research, the NBCF said it is working towards a goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

The Bulahdelah ‘Pink Day’ is now in its third year, with all funds raised going towards research.

“We decided to have these days to support breast cancer research first and foremost,” Meredith said.

“We had such a great day at the first one that we thought we should make it an annual event.”

Meredith thanks everyone who supported the ‘Pink Day’ and helped to raise funds for the cause.
