A CABARET Evening will be held at Hawks Nest Golf Club on Saturday 3 September as a fundraising event for the Great Lakes Women’s Shelter (GLWS).
The evening will commence at 6.00pm and includes a two course meal, music and dancing with entertainment provided by Merry Marsh and the Olde Tyme Rock ‘n’ Roll Band.
Fundraising Committee member John Cole said the evening in Hawks Nest is one of five fundraising events to be held throughout the region.
“So far we have had pretty much sell out shows at the three previous locations and we are hoping for a similar result at Hawks Nest Golf Club,” he said.
“All funds raised on the night will be go towards the ongoing running costs of GLWS Shelter.”
The GLWS opened in January this year and accommodates women and their children who are at grave risk of abuse.
Unlike other women’s shelters, the Great Lakes facility allows women to bring their children with them.
Mr Cole said the services provided by GLWS are available to all women and their children in the MidCoast area.
Tickets for the evening can be purchased from Hawks Nest Golf Club at a cost of $35.
