The Medowie Christmas Carols, hosted annually by the Williamtown Rotary Club, is currently in preparation mode.

The annual event will this year be held on Friday, 2 December at Ferodale Oval, Medowie.

If last year’s carols of over 1500 people in attendance is anything to go by, this year will be another successful local event.

President of the Williamtown Rotary Club, Mr Geoffrey Hamilton told Medowie News Of The Area, “This is an event run for the community and to give the people of Medowie the chance to get together and feel good.”

The event is entirely dependent on volunteers, and includes Rotary club members, The Medowie Christian School, Baptist Church, Lions Club, Medowie Rural Fire Service, and other non-affiliated Medowie and surrounds residents.

Like many community organisations, volunteers are needed for this event so that it can be success.
Performing at the Carols will be local school children and dancing groups.

Hot food, coffee and soft drinks will be available from the Rotary Club’s mobile kitchen van.
The Lions Club is also involved, selling candles for those twilight songs and assisting with the raffle.

The highlight of the evening is the arrival of Santa on the back of a fire truck loaded up with sweets to distribute to the children.

Mr Hamilton told Medowie News Of The Area, “Local businesses have been really great in sponsoring this year’s event which helps with the rising costs of hosting the carols.”

Some sponsors currently include: Century 21, Newcastle Permanent Building Society, Little Pantry café, Medowie Woolworths, Medowie Pet & Produce, Medowie Christian School, Medowie Chemist, Translec, Bull ‘n’ Bush, Medowie butcher, iTravel and Utopia Landscaping and Pools.

The Williamtown Rotary Club is putting out a call for volunteers to assist on the evening.

For those interested in participating, and local businesses interested in sponsoring the event, contact Mr Geoffrey Hamilton on 0418 639 937 or Mr David Thomas on 0403 266 179.
