COFFS Harbour Musical Comedy Company (CHMCC) is about to bring its long-awaited production of ‘Mamma Mia’ to the stage at the Jetty Memorial Theatre from Friday November 5 to Sunday 28.

Originally planned for the end of 2020, pandemic restrictions forced the company to postpone the show, and like many other groups has had to work around lockdowns and other restrictions over the last six months of rehearsals.

News Of The Area (NOTA) was given exclusive access to a recent rehearsal, which was the first run-through of the show with the five piece band and can report that this is a high energy, engaging, humorous and fun production.

The show is based on the movie of the same name and follows young bride-to-be Sophie’s quest to discover the identity of her father, one of three men from her mother’s past whom she invites to her wedding on the Greek island paradise where she and her mother call home.

The magical songs of ABBA weave through the story and the Musical Director, local musician Troy Cheers, has brought the extra multipart harmonies that the large ensemble provide to the fore.

Songs include Voulez Vous, S.O.S, Take a Chance on Me, Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and many more.

President of CHMCC, Peter Hodges, told News Of The Area, “We are so pleased to be able to present this show, it has been extremely challenging to put it all together in the uncertain times in which we live, but we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring such a great community theatre production to Coffs Coast audiences.”

Peter also advised NOTA that tickets are selling fast, with five shows sold out as of Monday October 25, leaving fifteen performances with seats left for booking.

For more information and ticket sales go to https://www.jettytheatre.com/mamma-mia/ or call the Jetty Memorial Theatre on 02 6648 4930 Tuesday through to Friday 12 noon to 4pm.

Current State health orders require all patrons to show proof of double vaccination at the theatre door prior to entry.
