CHRIS Michalak is back home juggling his ‘trade’ and fundraising for his life-long passion of surfing, and with his current ranking in the top 200, this makes him eligible for entry into the higher sanctioned events.

Chris told News Of The Area, “Having a great start to the year has boosted my ranking and the next competition will be in Japan followed by a couple of events on the east coast of the United States then finishing up in Hawaii.”

“My drive is the love of surfing and being among the elements, by doing something you love, you are being true to yourself,” he said.

All of this is possible thanks to the help and support of Chris’s partner Kia, family, sponsors and the general public who get behind Chris and support his Go Fund Me account and attend fundraisers, such as the one below.

The fundraising event is happening on 24 June, at Core Central.

There is an auction, barbecue, drinks, entertainment and generous raffle prizes, plus so much more, with proceeds going directly to support Chris, we can, as a community, support our local surfing champ.
