Community gets ready to clean up Coffs Coast Coffs Coast Coffs Coast News by News Of The Area - Modern Media - March 3, 2021 IT’S time to don the gardening gloves and get out the garbage bags as Coffs Harbour residents come together to clean up the region this weekend for the annual Clean Up Australia Day. Clean Up Australia commenced 30 years ago, and has now become the nation’s largest community-based environmental event. It inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve their local environment, with more than 380,000 ute loads of rubbish removed from the environment as part of Clean Up Australia activities. Around 30 sites have registered in the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area to clean up a particular patch of our beautiful region. Coffs Harbour City Council is encouraging everyone who wants to take part in the clean up day to do so, whether they are a business, school, local group or individuals. To register, head to the Clean Up Australia Day website at https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/ to organise an event or to join a local one. Local events that can be joined include the Coffs Harbour Tafe/Coffs Creek clean up with participants meeting on Thursday 4 March at 8.30am on the corner of the northern end of Hardacre St and the Botanic Gardens carpark, on Sunday 7 March at 7.30am participants will meet at Jetty Dunecare shed in Jordan Esplanade, on Sunday 7 March at 8am participants will meet opposite the High St playing fields in Woolgoolga, on Sunday 7 March at 8am participants will meet at Woolgoolga Lake Reserve, on Sunday 7 March at 9am participants will meet at Coffs Harbour Scout Hall in Harbour Drive, on Sunday 7 March at 9am Toormina Community Group will meet at Dews Avenue to start their clean up, and on Sunday 7 March at 10am participants will meet under Bangalor Bridge on the north side of the creek. On Monday 8 March at 8.30am participants will meet at the western end of Lawson Crescent, Coffs Harbour, and on Friday 12 March Woolgoolga Main Beach Landcare group will meet at 8am at Woolgoolga Lake car park. Many local schools are also participating in the clean up over the week.
