Councillor Chris Doohan re elected as Deputy Mayor of Port Stephens

COUNCILLOR Chris Doohan will continue as Deputy Mayor following his re-election at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

Cr Doohan was elected to the role unopposed for a 12 month period – pending an announcement on a proposed amalgamation with Newcastle City or Dungog Shire Council.

“It’s an interesting time for local government in NSW and unfortunately at the moment, Port Stephens are caught in the crosshairs of major reform,” Cr Doohan said.

Mayor Bruce MacKenzie welcomed the re-election of his deputy from the 2015 term.”
