The former Screaming Jets drummer and director of Rosie’s School of Rock recently won the local heat of the Real Estate of NSW Novice Auctioneer Competition and is keen to pursue his new career in Port Stephens.

Craig told News Of The Area that the leap from rock drummer to auctioneer isn’t as broad as people may first think.

“Being an auctioneer is very similar to being a musician; you are there to engage the people and create excitement.”

“These days I use a gavel instead of a set of sticks,” he said.

Craig or ‘Rosie’ as he is known to many in the music industry, is undoubtedly experienced at drawing a crowd and he is keen to transfer those skills to the real estate industry.

“I am a naturally friendly and outgoing person; this is a great attribute to have as an auctioneer,” he said.

“For many buyers and sellers, the auction will be the biggest financial transaction of their lives; it’s important for them to feel relaxed and not intimidated by the process.”

Port Stephens was an obvious choice for Craig.

“Port Stephens is a fantastic place to raise a family, with a healthy lifestyle surrounded by beautiful beaches,” he said.

“There are great schools and lots of sporting options any day of the week; this makes the region very appealing to live.”

“The diversity of properties available for sale within a relatively small geographical area makes it very interesting as an auctioneer, from first home buyers, to investment properties to multi-million-dollar waterfront mansions – this place has it all.”

Despite the exciting career change, Rosie’s School of Rock will continue.

Let’s raise our gavels to that.
