The awards ceremony, recently held in Wagga Wagga, honoured the nation’s best in community radio broadcasting.

“I am in shock, I honestly never expected that I would win,” Crazy Dave said.

“It’s a huge honour, not only for myself, but also for the radio station as a whole.”

Crazy Dave’s interview with Bandintexas on Great Lakes FM, outshone finalists from Victoria’s Plenty Valley and ORK FM for the top honour.

Great Lakes FM also claimed the top prize for ‘Best Outside Broadcast’ for their live coverage of the 2016 Bulahdelah Show.

“This year, Great Lakes FM were nominated for four awards, and they brought home two,” Crazy Dave said.

“It is a very good quality station and very well-run.”

The amateur broadcaster, who has been presenting ‘The ROCK shed with crazy dave’ for just over 12-months, said he would have to ‘wait and see’ if the big win would open any doors.

“I’m definitely not expecting to be rich and famous,” Crazy Dave said.

“At this point, I’m more than happy to continue doing the ROCK shed, continue promoting Aussie rock bands and broadcasting to the local community and to the world via the internet.”

With a national award now under his belt, Crazy Dave told News Of The Area he has many more top quality interviews planned.

“I have a few interviews lined up, but they’re all secret, you’ll have to wait and see what they are,” he said.

The ‘ROCK shed with crazy dave’ is broadcast every Friday night on Great Lakes FM.
