NEWS Of The Area is offering a double pass give away to a lucky reader.

CATS Abridged, by members of the Young People’s Theatre, is on these school holidays starting 10 July and running until 12 August.

Young People’s Theatre (YPT) is a not-for-profit organisation that trains young people in the performing arts and production teams.

The cast are under 18 years and include Oskar Sutherland, 13, from Bobs Farm.

Oskar has been acting in YPT productions for a few years, and has been cast in Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat, Princess and the Pea,  Mulan and Bugsy Malone.

Oskar plays Rum Tum Tugger, a demanding role where he brings flair with his smooth dance moves.

James Beath, 14, from Shoal Bay, performed in Bugsy Malone, and plays Old Deuteronomy, a much loved older character.

Bridget Phipps, 14, from Corlette, has been acting with YPT since she was eight years old, her first production was HONK!

She’s been cast as supporting actress in Seussical the Musical, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Annie, Hansel and Gretel and Wizard of Oz.

Hugo Sutherland, 8, from Bobs Farm, and Hugh Beath, 11, are newcomers to the musical theatre scene and play kittens Bill Bailey and Alzono.

Both boys are well developed at tap and jazz.

Nadine McKay from Shoal Bay and Tara Sutherland from Bobs Farm created the head pieces.

Jasmine Phipps, 15, from Corlette, is part of the make-up and hair team.

The costumes were created by dedicated parents.

Tahlia Goodwin, 15, from Salamander Bay, plays Skimbleshanks the railway cat.

This production is not to be missed and the abridged version is a good way to introduce young ones to a much loved musical.
