TWO community organisations in the Myall Coast area are set to benefit from a combined $75,000 boost infunding from Commonwealth Government grants.

Federal Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie visited the area last week to announce Bulahdelah Lions Club would receive $50,000 for an activity park and Tea Gardens Marine Drive Foreshore Reference Group would receive $25,000 to improve the foreshore area.

Bulahdelah Lions Club President Mr Arthur Baker said the construction of the community activity park would include skate and exercise facilities and a miniature road system to make the park user-friendly.

“The bonus of the park is that everyone can enjoy it, toddlers, youth and senior citizens,” Mr Baker said.

“It promotes both health and education and will be a huge bonus for the town.”

In addition to the funding announced by Dr Gillespie, the State Government has also contributed $15,000 to the project which will be combined with $30,000 of funds raised by Bulahdelah Lions Club.

Marine Drive Foreshore Reference Group Member Mr Gordon Grainger said the $25,000 Federal Government grant allocated for improvements to the Tea Gardens Foreshore will be combined with a $50,000 contribution from MidCoastCouncil which was also announced last week.

“We hope to be able to use this grant to improve the foreshore area, and also hope we can resume work on the foreshore amenities that we have already started,” Mr Grainger said.

“There is already a series of projects in waiting, including the construction of new shelters, the replacement of trees and the beautification of the Marine Drive roundabout.”

Meeting with representatives of both groups last week, Dr Gillespie said he was pleased to provide funding for the projects which will significantly benefit the local communities.

“The grants are designed for improving facilities and upgrading existing ones and will definitely help improve the amenities in both Bulahdelah and Tea Gardens,” Dr Gillespie told News of the Area.

“It is important that these projects are built in our communities as they will help enhance the experiences that community members and tourists have in both areas.”
