Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au Julia Redlich told News Of The Area, “Christmas in July is now a welcome addition to our calendar, keenly anticipated by members of Fingal Bay Probus Club. “No prizes for guessing what stopped it this year! “Undeterred, Vicki and John Archer, the dining-out experts, watched four months go by before their well-laid plans could go ahead. “And what fun it was.” The Fingal Bay Probus Club usually meets at the Fingal Bay Sports Club and the Christmas In July that was held in November was enjoyed at the same venue. Fingal Bay Sports Club had beautifully decorated tables (bon-bons, chocolates and ribbons of course) and there was a special separate one featuring Santa, snowmen and other seasonal specials. “Paper hats were immediately worn, treats pocketed and slips of paper with witty jokes bringing groans and laughs.” The Sports Club’s chef and his team provided traditional fare to relish, served with skill and good humour, as well as wine or the option of a soft drink. “No wonder good wishes for a happy Christmas were abundant as the belated feast came to its finish,” she said. The Fingal Bay Probus Club meets at 9.30am on the second Monday of each month at the Fingal Bay Sports Club, 100 Rocky Point Road, Fingal Bay. New members and visitors are welcome to learn about Probus and the club’s activities that include barbecues, day trips and wine and dine evenings.
