UNUSUALLY cool summer breezes did not chill the atmosphere at Galleries in the Gardens (GIG) Christmas party on Friday night.

The celebrations were twofold, Christmas and the fifth year GIG has been located in their delightful Tea Gardens waterfront cottage.

Emilie Tseronis, GIG President, welcomed artists and members of community organisations to the garden party.

Jacqui Bright did a magnificent job preparing and catering for the party, plus many members also contributed a huge selection of delicious finger food.

Representatives of many local groups joined the celebrations.

“Fostering the arts and raising awareness of the things that make our area special are vital to the future vitality of our towns,” Emilie said.

“Galleries in the Gardens has become not only a local destination but also a drawcard for visitors to our twin towns.”

Lucky door prizes, including a generous $50 gift voucher, added to the evening fun.

Christmas gifts were purchased from The Gallery during the evening and party goers took the time to enjoy the broad variety of work on display.

The philosophy behind this not-for-profit community gallery is to work with community artists along with the broader community to foster the arts in our beautiful area.

The Gallery engages with several local groups throughout the year including The Pearls of Port Stephens, Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Lifesaving Club, Meals on Wheels, the Koala Association, and local schools.

Galleries in the Gardens will be open most days throughout the holiday season.

The Gallery will however be closed from 24 to 27 December inclusive, and from 1 to 3 January, and closed on Tuesdays.

The popular January Cool Summer Exhibition, with this year’s theme of ‘All About Colour’ opens on 6 January and runs throughout the rest of the month.
