Williamtown Union Hall was transformed in May in what has become a very popular local event.

The ‘Pretty in Pink High Tea’, which is the major annual fundraiser for Girl Guides, attracted its maximum capacity of a massive130 attendees. Girl Guides 3

The event sold out within 24 hours and many people were on a reserve list to attend such is the popularity of the event.

$3500 was raised to support Girl Guide activities over the next 12 months.

District Manager, Elizabeth Keeley was delighted with the results and said that the High Tea is organised completely by volunteers.

“It encourages the girls to be community spirited,”Ms Keeley told News Of The Area.

“The girls are the waitresses, sell raffle tickets, learn hospitality. The girls love this opportunity to learn new skills,” she said.Girl Guides 2

The pretty in pink theme was taken quite literally with even a pink piano finding its way into the themed room.

Local businesses were also involved in the success of the event, donating goods and services so that more funds can be raised for the group.

Some of the supporting businesses include, Nancy’s Party Lite, Body Shop Consultants, Ella Kama Hand Stamped Jewellery, Century 21 Medowie, Medowie Day Spa and Hair Salon, Bunnings, Fighter World, The Greenhouse Eatery, Medowie Boulevard Beaute, Fine Fettle Flats, Medowie Chinese Restaurant, Bull ‘n’ Bush Hotel, Allison McInroy Scentsy, Medowie Pharmacy, Medowie Coles.

News Of The Area hopes we didn’t miss anyone there (please let us know) – but what a fantastic community effort!

The girl Guides are currently embarking on their next fundraising endeavour, being the famous biscuit drive.
