Grant, who placed all his bets at his local, Shoal Bay Country Club, came top to win the statewide title and the coveted prize money.

Mr Bendeich has been a Bay local for 30 years, running various restaurants in that time.

More recently he was co-owner of Ocean View restaurant at Fingal Bay Surf Life Saving Club.

The die-hard Knights fan told News Of The Area, “This year I picked with my head instead of my heart. I think that was the key.”

Grant was presented with a cheque by Marie Loach, Business Development Manager of Sportspick.

He says that he has no plans to splash out on exotic holidays or any other treats but will instead put the money in the bank.

A very provident decision Grant. Many congratulations.
