Inaugural Atman Yoga Festival comes to Bellingen

More than 20 yoga teachers will feature at the Bellingen Showgrounds as part of the Atman Yoga Festival.

WITH a dream of bringing people together to connect and uplift the community, the Atman Yoga Festival is coming to the Bellingen Showgrounds from 17 -19 November.

“With over 20 different yoga teachers sharing their unique gifts, from Acro to Kundalini, Tantra and Vinyasa, Lyengar and Kirtan, there is something for everyone,” said festival organiser Crystal Tredinnick-Dawson.

“Markets and music to top it all off.

“Camping at the showgrounds with all the amenities available, too,” Crystal said.

Atman is a Sanskrit word that refers to the true self or the self-existent essence of each individual.

The term atman is derived from the Sanskrit word ātman, which literally means “essence” or “breath”.

“It is our individual essence, solely pure consciousness, the self-existent essence of individuals, as distinct from ego,” Crystal said.

“It is considered the ultimate goal of yoga to reach the atman, to yolk ourselves, so that we unravel the layers, the koshas, to the essence of our truest and best versions of self, living our very best lives.”

Crystal said the festival is a great opportunity for yoga beginners and more experienced practitioners, with much more than ancient meditative practice on offer.

“We have a stellar line up featuring Kirtan Bellingen on Friday night and Lulu and Mischka in concert with percussion Saturday night,” Crystal said.

The festival will also feature sound healing, breathwork, vocal workshops, massage therapy, art therapy and more.

The festivities kick off with a traditional smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country on Friday afternoon at 2pm
The campground opens from 12pm.

“Please show your support for this first year running, special event for the community, celebrating ourselves, each other and the magic of yoga,” Crystal said.

Tickets are now available from $30.00 through https://events.humanitix.com/atman-yoga-festival

Ticket booking fees go towards supporting children’s charities, thanks to a partnership with Humanitix, with ten percent of profits being donated to stop the logging of local forests.
