Firearms seized following domestic violence incident

A man will appear in court today after several firearms and ammunition were seized following an alleged domestic violence incident in Warilla yesterday.

Shortly after 6pm (Thursday 16 June 2016), emergency services attended a home on Fleetwood Crescent, after receiving several triple zero calls.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command attended and forced entry into the house. Upon entry, a physical altercation took place between a 40-year-old man and a male police officer.

Following a search of the home police allegedly located three unregistered firearms and an amount of ammunition.
A 34-year old woman and two children were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Shellharbour Hospital.

The 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Oak Flats Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm ( x 3), not keep firearm safely ( x 3), possess unregistered firearm (x 3), possess ammunition, common assault ( x 2), resist arrest (x 2), intimidation and intentionally choke person.

He was refused bail and will appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 17 June 2016).
