Lockdown restrictions have eased, monthly meetings can return and our over 55’s who are members of the very active Probus Clubs around Port Stephens are ready to tackle the challenges of being together COVID-19 safe.

Representatives of Port Stephens Probus Clubs from Fingal Bay to Lemon Tree Passage came together at Nelson Bay Bowling Club to plan the resumption of activities and events after a long period of restrictions due to Covid 19.

Fran Wathen, Probus Ambassador for the Port Stephens area told News Of The Area, “Members have missed the fun and fellowship of the wide range of events that form a social mainstay for retirees and semi retirees in our community.

“There is a Probus club nearby for everyone and new members are always welcome as clubs press the restart button to ensure lasting friendships and exciting activities, she said.

Fran is enthusiastic about the benefits of being involved in Probus.

Even during lockdown the clubs provided vital contact for members who otherwise may have been isolated and very alone.

Now each Probus Club will refine their calendar and make sure that each activity that is offered is safe and fun for members.

From BBQ’s, bowling and book clubs to wine appreciation, camping and fishing each Probus Club has a focus that will be appreciated by any retiree.

There are mixed, men’s and ladies clubs making Probus something suitable for everyone.
