The large vertical screen will measure 2.3 metres by 1.5 metres and will be used to display poster style advertising with information about upcoming events and performances at the theatre.

The advertising screen will operate 24 hours a day and will cost $19,000 to install inside an existing glass window in the Jetty Memorial Theatre tower.

The theatre building is heritage listed and was built in 1927.

There have been additions to the building, including the tower in 2003, which is not heritage listed.

As the digital screen is to be mounted internally, it is envisaged that the proposed screen will have minimal impact on the Jetty Theatre, as the external building will remain physically unchanged.

Alternative screen options and placement had been considered, however the screen proposed is considered to have the least impact on the heritage listed building as it will be mounted internally and will work well during evenings when the venue is not open.

The development application was lodged with Council on 23 October and can be viewed on Council’s website at www.coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au on its DA Tracker page by searching for 0391/21DA.

Jetty Memorial Theatre is a Coffs Harbour City Council owned and operated venue.
