RUMOUR mill is reporting that the TG/HN Family Research Group has folded but quite to the contrary, this group is on the move physically to another venue with access to extra research material to assist with your family research project.

MidCoast Council and the staff at the Tea Gardens Library have kindly offered the TG/HN Family Research Group the opportunity to hold their research days at the Tea Gardens Library, on a permanent basis, commencing Monday, 5 August 2019.

This friendly Group of researchers meet on the first and third Monday of each month between 1.00pm and 4.00pm and every Saturday between 9.30am and 11.30am but it does not meet on public holiday weekends and takes a break during December and January.

Members will now have access to the library editions of Ancestry, FindmyPast and full copies of records containing loads of information.

Another exciting aspect for this group is the Trove Project which is the locating and filing of NOTA newspapers dating from April 1970 to December 1984 in a digitized format which have now started to appear on Trove at the National Library of Australia.

These newspapers can be viewed by logging onto trove.nla.gov.au and following the prompts from that website.

With modernization, funding from the Australian Government, the National Library of Australia is currently upgrading the Trove interface, making it cleaner, clearer and more user-friendly.

The group’s latest grant was from Australia Post which puts them into a position to sign an agreement with the National Library of Australia for the next three reels of microfilm to be digitized.

Certainly, plenty happening with TG/HN Family Research Group.
