Despite the forecast for rain on Friday evening, it paused for long enough for the successful 2017 start of the Medowie Little Athletics Club.

To top it off for the little athletes, and their parents, the first evening back featured a sweet treat fundraiser.

Mr Jason Wells, President of Medowie Little Athletics, told Medowie News Of The Area, “We hold fundraising dinner evenings as part of our meets, usually on a fortnightly basis.”

“We invite external food and beverage trucks to provide an alternative to everyday canteen food, and as our meets occur on a Friday night, it is a welcome night off from the kitchen for some parents.”

This fortnight, Ice Creamery On Wheels, a local ice cream truck that attends many festivals and other events, were the suppliers of sweet, icy treats for the children once their training was finished.

Ice Creamery On Wheels is a local family run business who support charity and fundraisers, donating back to the Medowie Little Athletics Club at the end of the night.

Funds raised through these endeavours go straight back into the Medowie Little Athletics Club.

Mr Wells added, “Funds are being used to update track and field equipment, and over the mid-term as a way to upgrade our existing canteen with new benchtop space and storage.”

It definitely received the thumbs up from the children.
