Macksville Country Club Golf

The four leading A graders on the first tee – Allan Clarke (winner), Brad Fortescue, Mike Simpson and Steve Ellis.

IN great conditions for golf, Trevor and Paul Latham sponsored the final round of the Macksville Country Club Golf Championships.

Beyond being a habit, Allan Clarke won his 36th championship final.

Apart from being a convincing winner, Allan finished his demoralisation with a ten metre putt on the last hole – playing off a plus one handicap is a commendable achievement.

Mike Simpson won the Net Event.

In the B grade, Jeff Gore maintained his consistency to come in the winner ahead of Jordan Welsh who tied with Darrin Turner as runners up.

Not satisfied with winning the Junior Championship, Jordan came out determined to beat grandfather John Fortescue, which he did.

It seems their handicaps are going in opposite directions.

Paul Donges started with a flyer in the first round and maintained a good lead for the four rounds to finish a convincing winner in C grade. Neil Cunneen was runner up.

The day’s stroke event was won by Tony Grebert with Cohen Welsh runner up.

The ladies were out on Tuesday.

Jo Montague, the winner, is so consistent it seems her drives are finishing in last week’s divots.

Helen Ferrero was runner up on a countback from Desma Hughes and Rhonda McAuliffe.
