Man arrested in Tea Gardens after drug raid

A 38 year old man will face court next month following a police raid on a house in Tea Gardens last week.

Senior Constable Dave Coyle said, “Police executed a search warrant upon a house in Tea Gardens where it was believed it was being used to grow cannabis hydroponically.”

A search of the house located a number of cannabis plants averaging one metre in height and 25 kilograms of loose cut cannabis, along with a small amount of amphetamines.

Some loose ammunition was also discovered.

The 38 year old man was arrested and charged with cultivating a prohibited plant, possession and supply of cannabis.

A 27 year old man will also face Raymond Terrace local court next week after allegedly failing a roadside drug test.

The man was driving a small hatchback on Marine Drive in Tea Gardens when he was pulled over by police.

He was subjected to a roadside drug test and returned a positive result to cannabis.

He was taken to Tea Gardens Police Station for a secondary test which again proved positive.

He’s been charged with driving with illicit drug in system.

And on Wednesday 29 August, two men from San Remo and Broke were issued with infringement notices after an incident at a Tea Gardens licensed premises.

Police were called after the men were refused service and asked to leave, but failed to do so, and continued to argue with the Licensee.

Both men were issued with $550 fines for failing to quit.
