Man charged following alleged assault – Port Stephens

A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted another man with a tyre iron in Port Stephens. 

About 8.30pm yesterday (Thursday 9 March 2017), a 31-year-old man was seen by a neighbour in the garage of a property on Fairlands Road, Mallabula, while the residents were away.

The neighbour confronted the man who allegedly struck him on the face and neck with a tyre iron.

The neighbour, with the assistance of other neighbours, managed to subdue the man until police arrived.

The man was arrested and charged with trespass, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, armed with intent to commit serious indictable offence, possess house breaking implements and breach of bail.

He was bail refused and will face Rayomd Terrace Local Court today.
