Man, 23 arrested at Raymond Terrace charged with multiple extortions

A man is expected to appear in court today following an investigation into a number of alleged extortions in the Port Stephens Area.

Police allege between Monday 5 December 2016 and Tuesday 13 December 2016, a man delivered a number of threatening letters to private and business addresses demanding money.

Following an investigation by police attached to Port Stephens detectives, the 26-year-old man was arrested in Gwen Parade, Raymond Terrace early this morning.

He has been charged with three counts of demand property with intent to steal, intimidation, possess prohibited weapon and handle explosives.

He was refused bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today, (Wednesday 14 December 2016).
