Man in serious condition following stabbing at Wagga Wagga

A man is in a serious condition and a woman suffered a head injury following an incident at Wagga Wagga suburb early this morning.

Between 2.30am and 3.00am today (Tuesday 7 October 2014), a 31-year-old male was out the front of his house in Coyne Place, Ashmont with a group of other males.

A 32-year-old woman walked from inside the house and asked the group to leave due to the noise.

It‘s alleged one of the men from the group hit the woman in the head. The woman’s partner went to help her and was stabbed twice in the back.

The group of men left the area and ambulance personnel attended and conveyed the injured pair to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.

The woman was treated for a laceration to her head and her partner underwent surgery for his stab wounds and remains in a serious condition.

A crime scene was established and investigations are continuing.
