Medowie branch, Country Women’s Association focus on fundraising efforts

The Medowie branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) meets each second Wednesday of the month.

This is for the monthly meeting, they also meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month for what is known as the ‘Craft and Friendship’ meet.

Treasurer of the local branch, Merran Manning said, “Our branch has ongoing projects with toys and items for Ronald McDonald House and baby nighties and rugs for the Neo Natal Clinic at John Hunter Hospital.”

“Funds for these projects come from the generosity of the Medowie Community at our stalls outside Coles Supermarket,” Ms Manning said.

The Medowie branch is part of CWA Hunter River Group and also support the local Tocal College with a student grant and assist.

Ms Manning told News Of The Area, “Examples have been the ‘Dungog Disaster’ and the CWA Disaster Relief Fund along with funds to our Head Office in donations to ‘Research in Lyme Disease’.”

“We welcome all to come along and join in with the talking, laughing and sharing of one another’s ideas.”

“We are not just scones, jam and cream,” she said.

The above two meetings are at 10am and 9.30am respectively and held at Ferodale Sports Centre, Ferodale Road, Medowie.
