Principal Herd was given a guided tour of the Library which plays a major role in many of his student’s lives.

He’d also come bearing a donation of $150 for the Library.

“We have many students from Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest so we value the community aspect and support the Library gives to the students and their families,” Principal Herd said.

“One of our core values is ‘enriching community’ so what better way than having people connect and provide opportunities for young people.”

The $150 will go towards provided resources for the Library’s Homework Club.

Librarian Chris Shelly said, “The money could go towards books, stationary, afternoon tea for our children.”

“The children come in, wash their hands and sit down, settle in and then our volunteers work out who needs help with what subject, it makes for a homely environment.”

This is the second donation from the Medowie Christian School to the Tea Gardens Library.

“We have a full busload of students coming down from Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest, so the opportunity through those vital years from Kindergarten to Year 12 to have support in their home community is very important,”Principal Herd said.

The Tea Gardens Library is closed this work for a vital upgrade of a number of services but will re-open on Monday 25 March.
