The home venue for Medowie Little Athletics, Kindlebark Oval now has the infrastructure to host larger athletic competitions, as well as allow those who support our own future champions to enjoy watching them from a newly built vantage point.

Thanks to a jointly funded project between the New South Wales Government and Medowie Sports Council, two sandstone block walls have been installed on what was an unusable hill which will provide families with a large turfed area where they can watch their children in action.

“The whole Kindlebark area has been improved over the last twelve months, with a new community mural, new administration area and renovated canteen,” President of Medowie Little Athletics Jason Wells told News Of The Area.

“Our club was lucky enough to host the Port Hunter Zone Multi Carnival here last year, partly due to the improved spectator area, so we certainly could cater for larger crowds.”

The works completed at Kindlebark Oval brings a nice conclusion for all of the work done by many involved in the project, including State Member for Port Stephens, Kate Washington.

“It’s great to see the end result of funding that I granted to Medowie and District Little Athletics Club in 2016,” Ms Washington told News Of The Area.

“The sandstone tiers look fantastic. The club has created a much improved spectator area for the Little Athletics families, and for all other users of the Kindlebark sports ground.”

With Little Athletics having a rich history in Medowie, the improvements at Kindlebark Oval will help many young athletes and their families maintain a strong connection with athletics.

This is something that hasn’t been lost on our local member of parliament.

“Congratulations to all of the Little Athletics families for another successful season.”

“An enormous thank you to club President, Jason Wells, and the committee, for making it possible for children to have fun and improve fitness at Little Athletics each week.”

Medowie Little Athletics Club meets every Friday evening from 5pm at Kindlebark Oval between September and March, with registrations for the next season to open from August 1 2018.
