Over the Christmas holidays Rebecca spent six weeks on a mission trip to South Africa with an organisation called Teen Missions Australia/New Zealand.

My team was made up of nine team leaders all from around Australia and New Zealand.

Rebecca Standing told News Of The Area, “I spent 10 days at boot camp in New Zealand, which is to prepare me for the field in South Africa.

“During these 10 days I learnt block laying, carpentry, concreting, painting, steel tying, digging, and also learnt some evangelistic skills to use like puppetry, drama and music, to use in South Africa.

Rebecca speaks candidly about the trip and its challenges and her spirituality.

She struggled a lot with homesickness and brought ‘extra baggage’ from home which weighed me down.

“I absolutely fell in love with Africa, the looking eye to eye with a lion on the safari, the storms, the children, missionary family, my team, digging deeper into God’s word, sharing God’s love in unique ways, the life-long friendships, sunrises and sunsets, will always be sown in my heart,” she said.

Not long after getting home from South Africa, Rebecca signed up to head to Uganda this year.

Rebecca has shared my summer testimony at Medowie Christian School and at Raymond Terrace Community Church.

Rebecca is raising money for her mission, and has an upcoming screening of The Lion King Scotty’s Cinema on Friday the 19 July.
