Vickie McCleer was acknowledged for her work in a voluntary capacity over and above her normal duties to ensure the wellbeing of many young people experiencing difficulties of a personal, family, social or mental health nature.

Vicki has helped to set up special programs for individual students and has initiated more extensive programs such as breakfast facilities for groups including many young people who are undernourished or inadequately cared for in many areas of personal need.

Max Pride is most well known as President of Nelson Bay Golf Club.

Through his and others efforts, many charitable organisations have benefited from events held at the course over the years including Rotary, Community Hospital and Men of League to name a few.

Max formed the Tomaree Prostate Cancer Support Group which provides assistance to the growing number of sufferers in our area.

The group provides a “Buddy Program” where survivors of Prostate Cancer buddy up with sufferers to provide education and awareness programs, as well as providing volunteer drivers to appointments and monthly meetings.

Gerry Mohan has been a director of Port Stephens Veterans and Citizens Aged Care Ltd. (Harbourside Haven) since around 2000 and took over as Chairman around 2008.

Gerry is a driving force behind many programs at Harbourside Haven.

He puts in many hours in this role, which is a voluntary position, and under his headship, Harbourside Haven flourishes.

Doug Cross instigated the Billy Cart Darby which was incorporated into the Australia Day Celebrations of which he has also been involved for some 20 years, 10 of them as Chairman.

Through his efforts, Council was convinced to incorporate the Australia Day Celebrations into their budget and the event has grown exponentially since then.

David Birss has been the driving force, liaising between Council, Rotary, equipment suppliers, printers and local politicians for the Nelson Bay Exercise Trail along the Nelson Bay Foreshore.

The Exercise Trail sets our town aside with a point of difference that will draw tourists to the town.
