Members of the community can watch the proceedings via Council’s website, when the meeting is livestreamed from 2pm.

At the meeting Councillors will consider a package of measures designed to support the community through the COVID19 restrictions period, including support for businesses such as rent relief for council tenants and assistance with trade waste charges and payment arrangements available for ratepayers experiencing financial hardship due to the situation.

“Council is continuing to deliver essential services such as water, sewer, road maintenance and waste services and we are focused on delivering services for our community during this time,” General Manager Adrian Panuccio explained.

Also on the agenda at Wednesday’s meeting will be a report on the future of New Year’s Eve fireworks, following concerns raised as a result of the severe fires of late 2019.

Councillors are being asked to decide on the first round of funding for the events sponsorship program, with sponsorship of $97,350 for 30 events across the region recommended. The meeting will also consider how to administer sponsorship for events either cancelled or affected by COVID-19 restrictions.

Alternatives to the current bulky waste collection service will be considered, to address issues with of dangerous and unsightly rubbish accumulating on streets. The options include providing residents with up to two free self-haul vouchers, or one or more booked kerbside collections per year with a co-payment from the resident.

Council will also be asked to endorse a recommendation to award the contract for the audio visual fit-out of the Biripi Way office centralisation project.
