There were celebrations around the entire Myall Coast region last weekend as 2016 was farewelled and the New Year began.

A slight drizzle of rain didn’t dampen festive spirits with large crowds flocking to venues throughout the area.

Live music at the clubs kept the masses entertained ensuring the festivities continued into the early hours of 2017.

Flashing lights and sparkling hats were popular party accessories while many of the younger crowd at Karuah RSL Club proudly displayed their freshly painted faces.

The family friendly celebrations at Tea Gardens Country Club went off with a bang as more than 500 people enjoyed the spectacular fireworks display.

Excited children gasped in delight at the dazzling blaze of colour that exploded in the sky above.

Staff at the club said they were very pleased to see so many local and visiting families enjoying the celebrations.

“It’s great to see such a good turnout with whole families coming along to celebrate the year that was and ring in the new year,” they said.

Further north, revellers at Bulahdelah Bowling Club danced the night away as they counted down the final moments of 2016.

Staff member Rose Wilson told News Of The Area the great atmosphere created by the lively crowd ensured 2017 was welcomed in style.

“Everyone’s happy and enjoying themselves and in high spirits going into the new year,” she said.

As 2017 kicked off, wishes of good health and happiness for the year ahead were shared.
