AT this time of year only the hardy take to the water, but the Myall Masters Swimmers are still making waves.

Many are still training three times a week at Jimmys Beach, while others have been travelling all of the State to compete.

Nine swimmers, Leon Bobako, Jenny Hyde, Brad Jensen, Peter Kellaway, Chris Lock, Liz McKay, Michael Rose, Christine Sefton and Chris Mobbs, recently headed to Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre for the MSNSW Relay Meet.

“We were small fish in a very big pond,” Valerie Mobbs said.

“There were 297 swimmers in the program ranging in age from 24  to 91 years old.”

‘’Our nine swimmers should be extremely proud of themselves gaining five second places, one third place and three fourth places in the nine events entered earning us 148 points in the branch point score.”

Valerie added, “With this great result we maintain our first position in Division Two on the NSW BPS, 600 points ahead of our nearest competitor.”

Another high point on the day was the group’s coach Brad Jensen being presented with his Coaching Accreditation Certificate.

You can’t keep the pair of  Chris Lock and Chris Mobbs out of the water.

They recently travelled down to Abbotsleigh School for the Manly Masters BPS meet.

The Chris’s joined 226 swimmers at the meet and gained 42 points for their club’s branch point score.

On the homefront, Linda Stubbs was recently presented with a Certificate of Recognition at Masters Swimming NSW AGM lunch.

“This certificate is in recognition of Linda’s contribution to our club,” Valerie said.

“As an active swimmer within our club and at various branch meets, Linda was Club Secretary for a number of years as well as Technical Official for time keeping, only stepping down from the position of Club Secretary this year.”
