While many have sat through lockdown wondering what to do Pat and Gordon could not have been busier.

Pat Rowe is the club’s secretary, and Gordon is her husband.

After the lockdown the club was able to achieve a partial re-opening for the purpose of exercise.

This meant limited player numbers on site at any time.

Club secretary Pat swung into action and created a timetable of dates and times which allowed club members to get back into croquet.

Her husband Gordon was not to be outdone and as a consummate woodworker he took the newly available time to repair the club’s croquet mallets.

Sue Dodds from the Myall Park Croquet Club told News Of The Area, “The club presented Pat and Gordon with flowers and chocolates to let them know that their efforts and investment of time had been greatly appreciated by the members.”

Many community sports clubs have had to change their operations due to COVID-19.

The extra effort put in by committee members across all codes has seen local sporting activities available to residents in a safe environment.

Pat and Gordon are just one example of the people behind the scenes who enhance our community and have helped keep things moving during the pandemic.
