Months in the planning, the crowds responded, packing the foreshore along Marine Drive from early morning.

There was plenty to see and do, from perusing the dozens of stalls which lined the waterfront to heading into the Dolphin Room at the Tea Gardens Hotel to grab a bargain courtesy of ‘Buy My Wardrobe’.

“We can’t believe it, it’s fantastic there are so many people and so many clothes,” Leslie Lane from ‘Buy My Wardrobe’ told News Of The Area.

The women running the second hand clothes emporium were run off their feet but delighted with the turnout, all money raised going to ‘Harry’s House’ in Stockton, a home away from home for children undergoing cancer treatment.

On the water the ducks were racing down the river, while the canines were doing their best to impress at the 11th annual Greepaws Dog Show.

Former NSW Governor Rear Admiral Peter Sinclair was enlisted again to hand out the awards.

There were ribbons for the best behaviour and the beauty and the beast parade, but this year ‘Best in Show went to ‘Holly’ and her young owner’s Grace and Josh.

“There were so excited and absolutely thrilled,” Mum Fiona said.

The Koala Group was there handing out gum trees, the fire brigades were there handing out some timely advice and the Men’s Shed were there, resplendent in lime green, showing off their wonderful creations.

Over at the Boomerang Bag stall the children were having a fabulous time creating hand painted bags.

By the afternoon, many of the locals and visitors had taken a well earned nanna nap or headed to the pub for the crab races, before turning out again on sunset for the Lantern Parade and the Fireworks Display.

Visitor to town, Jenny Marsh summed up the Festival, “We had a wonderful day, in one of the most beautiful places in Australia.”
