The Myall U3A has been a fabric of the Hawks Nest Community since 1993.

Allied with the University of Newcastle, its purpose and ethos is to offer interesting courses which encourage mental stimulation and improve the skills and experience of the over 55s.

“Courses include Art Workshops, Garden and Photography Clubs, a Writers’ Group, Italian language and culture; Fitness and Balance classes,” U3A President Chris Klimek told News Of The Area.

“If you like to sing there is even a choir to join.

“Every Friday morning from 10am to 12.30pm during school terms there are excellent presentations on a wide variety of subjects designed to be informative, entertaining and generally just good fun,” Chris said.

Over a number of years MU3A has arranged the popular annual Christmas Choir Concert and the Art Group has held their annual Show over the October long weekend.

The MU3A also participates in other local events such as the Grey and Thespian Mardi Gras Festival in April and the Tea Gardens River Festival in October.

The annual fee of $36 dollars gives members the opportunity to participate in as many activities as they wish.

So why not pop along to the Hawks Nest Community Hall on Friday 20 January between 10 and 11.30am and learn something new in 2017.
