Nambucca Heads Roosters appoint head coach for 2023

THE Nambucca Heads Roosters have appointed a new coach for the 2023 Group 2 Rugby League season.

Warwick Jones will take over the reins of the Roosters first grade side after their first season back in first grade since 2018 this year.

The new Roosters coach outlined his plans for the 2023 season.

“I think we are going to be a surprise packet next season,” he said.

“We are aiming for top 2 or 3, and it would be nice to win the competition but obviously that is tough.”

Roosters president Peter Bellden highlighted the new coach’s recent involvement with the club.

“He played reserve grade for the Roosters this season, and he co-coached first grade this season,” he said.

“And he has been a big part of the fabric of the club.

“He is a local junior and club legend.”

The Nambucca Heads Roosters annual general meeting will be held on Saturday, 8 October from 5.30pm at the Nambucca Leagues and Sports Club.

All positions on the club’s SRLFC committee for 2023 will be nominated and voted on.
