Nambucca Roosters sign ex-Gold Coast Titan Tyronne Roberts-Davis for 2023 season

Former NRL player Tyronne Roberts-Davis following in his father’s footsteps has signed with the Nambucca Roosters for the 2023 season.

ALREADY heartened by the win against the Port Macquarie Sharks in their second trial match three weeks ago, there is renewed excitement at Coronation Park as the Nambucca Roosters announce they have signed former NRL player Tyronne Roberts-Davis to their ranks.

A former Gold Coast Titans player, Tyronne has returned to the Mid North Coast and is thrilled to be wearing the tri-colours in this year’s Group 2 Competition.

“I grew up here in Nambucca and it was so good to come back to the Mid North Coast about a year ago,” Tyronne told News Of The Area.

“My Dad, Brett Davis, was in the Nambucca Roosters’ 1996 Grand Final Team so it is a bit of a dream come true for me to be now also playing for the Roosters.”

Well known as a centre and a fullback, it remains to be seen where Roosters Coach Warwick Jones will play his new star signing and now has even more depth to work with in an already impressive roster.

Jones told News Of The Area, “Tyronne is a great addition to the club and has fit right into the culture and attitude toward our football we have built upon from last year.”

Along with bringing speed and experience to the Roosters in attack, Tyronne left the NRL with a 83.3 percent tackle rate and opposing sides will now meet with an additional dilemma as they try to crack the Roosters’ defence.

Having trained under NRL coaches such as Adam O’Brien and Neil Henry it is likely that Tyronne will bring a level of experience to Coronation Park that will filter down to all grades.

Round 1 kicks off this weekend with the Nambucca Roosters taking on the Woolgoolga Seahorses at Nambucca Heads.

The U/18s kick off at 12:00 am on Sunday 23 April with the Reserve Grade at 1:10 pm and the First Grade at 2:30 pm.

The Nambucca Roosters Women’s Rugby League Team will also debut this weekend at Kempsey in a game against the Macleay Valley Mustangs kicking off at 1:00 pm.
