Nana Glen continue unbeaten season in Coffs cricket

 

NANA Glen has continued its unbeaten season in the Coffs Harbour District Cricket Association’s first grade competition, with a dominant seven wicket win against Diggers Cricket Club Inc. in their one dayer in Coffs Harbour.

Nana Glen extended their lead at the top of the ladder and clinched the minor premiership with their fourth win from as many games in a rain affected season.

A phenomenal bowling spell from Nicklaus Stanlan-Velt saw Diggers bowled out for 98, with the Nana Glen bowler taking 6/9 from his 6.4 overs in a man of the match performance.

Nana Glen finished at 3/99 with Bradley Neary leading the run chase home finishing on 44 not out.

Nana Glen vice-captain Ben Watson was pleased with his side’s big win against last season’s premiers.

“It was a comfortable win and Nicklaus bowled quite well, we have a pretty strong young side,” he said.

The Coffs Harbour first grade season is scheduled to continue this weekend with the final round before the semi-finals.

Nana Glen take on the Northern Districts Rebels in Coffs Harbour, while Diggers Cricket Club Inc. host Sawtell at Fitzroy Oval.

Lower Clarence Cricket Association are T20 champions after winning the final of the North Coast Cricket Council’s Premier League T20 competition.

Lower Clarence won the T20 title after beating Sawtell by ten runs in the grand final at the Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park.

Lower Clarence opened the batting and were bowled out for 87, with Jake McMillan the best of the Sawtell bowlers taking 4/12 from his 4 overs.

Sawtell would fall 10 runs short of the T20 title finishing at 8/77 from 20 overs.

The Premier League season is scheduled to continue this weekend, with the Northern Districts Rebels hosting Sawtell in Woolgoolga and the Coffs Colts hosting Valleys Cricket in Coffs Harbour.
