This campaign, Wax for a Wish, is raising funds to grant the wishes of children and teens battling life-threatening illnesses.

Nate’s family friend, Lucy Newman, understands first-hand the joy such a wish can bring.

At age 9 Lucy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

This marked the beginning of a long and painful journey. She endured numerous tests, treatments and surgeries. At one stage Lucy was unable to walk. She lost her hair. And, tragically, many friends she met in hospital were lost forever.

Make-A-Wish granted Lucy her wish to ride the Puffing Billy, a century-old steam train that runs through the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria. Lucy loves trains and describes her wish experience as “the best thing ever”.

Nate wants to help others like Lucy experience their wish by raising money through Wax for a Wish.

Thanks to the generosity of many, Nate is currently in first place nationally for individuals participating in this fundraiser.

After Nate’s initial target of $1000 was reached, his dad, Adam Gill, agreed to join the cause and wax his legs if donations reached $1500.

Donations to Nate’s Wax for a Wish have now exceeded $1500 and a new goal has been set.

Nate’s 15 year old brother, Jonathan Gill, has agreed to wax the fuzz above his upper lip if donations reach $2000 by 8 pm this Friday.

The waxing of the Gill boys will take place on 23 June at a private fundraising event.
