THIS year was the 25th Anniversary of the Rotary Club’s Charity Golf Day.

Over the years the club has raised over $250.000 with these golf days.

All of this money has been returned to the local Community through various projects, including Community Transport, Youth Health, Surf Lifesaving, PCYC and other community and health projects.

This year the principle beneficiary will be a project to extend the existing Nelson Bay Rotary Club Exercise/FitnessTrail, installed along the foreshore from Conroy Park to Dutchies Beach, through a new Circuit that will link Victoria Parade, Nelson Bay through Little Beach to Shoal Bay.

The equipment in this new Circuit, will feature outdoor, multi-gym equipment, rather than the static equipment adopted for the initial stage of the trail opened in December 2015.

There were 104 players registered for the event. The key results of the day were:

Outright Winner: Rodney Howe with 43 points on a count-back.

Mens AGU category: Bob Phipps with 43 points on a count-back.

Ladies LGU category: Charmaine Elliott with 41 points.

Mens Social category: Tony Bowen with 40 points.

Maitland & Port Stephens Toyota were the Gold Sponsors.

They offered a Yaris model car for all players who achieved a hole-in-one on the 11th hole.

Unfortunately no-one drove a car away. However, Ralph Carstairs scored a hole-in-one, but not on Toyota hole.
